I remember going to my grandmother's funeral. The church was packed. Neighbors, friends, and loved ones filled the pews. The drive to the cemetery was long, but memorable to everyone.
The minister assured us that she was in a better place. Thankfully, during the graveside service, a family member was recording a video with a 35mm Kodak movie camera.
Sound familiar? 'Back in the day,' that was the ultimate way to preserve family memories. And thankfully, that recording and years of family movies survived.
Fast forward decades later, and a Kodak camera is obsolete - but you still have a chance to preserve your family memories.
A few years ago, I converted boxes of films to CDs. Yes, I said "boxes" of film. Those movies are priceless -and always were, as we watched them many times on a small projector.
My point? PLEASE check closets, and yes, even packed away in garage or attic boxes - you may just have a goldmine there. Ask family members, who may have boxes too. I have movies of my great-grandmother visiting us in Texas, and what a treasure that is to me.
And it's just not movies to convert - check for boxes or slides and single photos ... don't let your precious collection fade away
There are several sources to check with a Google search - though many recommend www.legacybox.com
What a great way to preserve family memories!
